Located on the Mediterraneen seaside, Marseilles is the oldest town in France, founded by Greek sailors in 600 B.C. By now, Marseilles has become the second town of the country and the foremost center of Southern France in terms of research, industry and services.
The climate is usually sunny in June and the temperature varies from 20 to 25°C. You may get to Marseilles by plane: Marseilles-Provence Airport is the third French airport and has a wide connexion system. You can reach Marseilles by train in 3 hours from Paris, 5:30 hours from Brussels and in 6 hours from London.
40% of Marseilles territory is a nature reservation, i.e. the famous Calanques, a highly popular area for walks and water sports. With its 25 theaters, the Opera, the International Dance School and the National Ballet, Marseilles is one of the most culturally rich cities of France.
